Former FBI official: Joel Greenberg likely only got this deal because he has a “lot to share about big fish”
Federal prosecutors don’t exactly love the idea of giving a comparatively lenient plea deal to an underage sex trafficker like Joel Greenberg. So when such a deal happened, we concluded that it meant Greenberg had ironclad evidence against other people who also committed heinous crimes, and who are bigger fish than he is.
The names of the people Greenberg flipped on still haven’t been revealed, even with the court approval of his plea deal today. But it turns out we’re not the only ones who expect that Greenberg gave up some really important people.
Former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi said this on MSNBC today: “We should take note that the cutting down from 33 charges to six charges is extremely significant and indicates that Greenberg has a lot to share about big fish.
Figliuzzi continued: “Second, let’s read through that cooperation agreement, guilty plea & let’s see that conspiracy has been left in there. That means he conspired with another party, seemingly guilty party to commit these federal felonies. So that other person is what we’re waiting for.”
So yeah, this is going to get really ugly for one or more people who are higher up the food chain than Joel Greenberg. In fact it already has gotten ugly for them, because Greenberg already coughed up all the evidence and testimony he had during his proffer session, which would have taken place before he was granted the deal. In other words, all eyes are on Matt Gaetz as we wait for his seemingly inevitable criminal indictment.
