Former Donald Trump ally admits he wishes he’d never met him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

“I wish I never f-ing met Trump.” This is probably what a lot of Republicans are now currently saying behind closed doors as they deal with unfavorability ratings at a record low, having lost the House, the Senate and the White House at a pace that hasn’t been seen since Herbert Hoover lost his re-election bid almost 90 years ago. Loudmouthed bigot and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones meant to say it behind closed doors too, but now there’s a video of it.

This is a problem for a few reasons – not the least of which is that Jones is one of the public faces of the January 6 insurrection, whose endorsement of Donald Trump was influential in getting a lot of infrequent voters to turn out for him in both 2016 and 2020 – the ones who usually never voted for Republicans that Trump endorsed at his rallies in the years between.

In addition to losing his platform on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter because he regularly incited violence against the Democrats, Jones is facing lawsuits from the families of Sandy Hook victims who have had to deal with harassment from his supporters, and now he’s actively being investigated by the Justice Department for his connections with Roger Stone and a possible role he may have had in the Capitol riots. This leaves us wondering how Trump and his supporters will react to the new video – and the outcome could be disastrous for both men, making it all the more difficult for Trump to stage a 2024 comeback.
