Mitch McConnell is coming for you
Even if you don’t want to be bothered with politics or current events unless something blows up, it’s time to tune in. There are many stories out there that you don’t think effect you, whether it’s Trump-Russia, or murdered journalists, or kids in cages. We are living in a society where people live paycheck to paycheck. There simply isn’t enough time to focus on the macro, when it is your micro that drives your focus. Well, it is time to pay attention.
If the Democrats don’t manage to get the vote out, the Republican House and Senate will take away the support structure that you depend upon. There are three essential issues to take into consideration when you vote, if you vote based on what goes on under your roof. If you don’t have time to worry about the festering dictatorship, leave it to the rest of us.
The issues are: 1. The tax scam enacted by Donald Trump has increased the deficit and has only helped the wealthiest 1%. There is little evidence to the contrary. If you doubt this, ask yourself why no Republicans want to even talk about it anymore. The tax plan did not help you; it hurt you, and it will continue to do so.
2. If the Republicans hold the House and the Senate, Mitch McConnell is coming for your health care. It will be their mandate to do so. He said so in plain English. The Republicans promised to replace/fix Obamacare and have failed to do so. Republicans only care about big business, i.e. insurance companies. They will privatize your health care, and if you have a pre-existing condition, you will not be able to afford health care. A heart attack in the family will ruin you financially and likely leave you bankrupt. And let’s face it, the expansive list of pre-existing conditions is outrageous. If you are a female and your periods are irregular or if you have acne, well, it now sucks to be you because you have a pre-existing condition.
3. Mitch McConnell is blaming the deficit on the so-called “entitlements.” If you do not vote, don’t bitch when the Republicans take an axe to your ability to get long term care for your ailing parent, or when the Trump government tells you that the system that you have paid into for 60 years will NOT be sending you a monthly check. There is absolutely nothing else to consider if the bread and butter issues are your concern.
