For Marjorie Taylor Greene, this is not a coincidence
If you didn’t watch Wednesday’s House public hearings, consider yourselves fortunate. House Republicans made a big, nasty, dishonest, and frankly pornographic attempt at pushing Hunter Biden front and center. Marjorie Taylor Greene even went so far as to display oversized and barely censored pictures of Hunter Biden having intercourse. This actually happened. It was disgusting. It also gave something away.
To be clear, this hearing had no impact whatsoever, beyond giving Hunter Biden a clear path to take several million dollars off Greene’s hands if he decides to go that route. There’s not a single person out there who watched Wednesday’s hearing and then said to themselves “You know, I was more inclined to vote Democrat, but now I’m more inclined to vote Republican.” Actually, come to think of it, this absurd and disqualifying hearing may have cost the Republicans votes in the middle. They should consider themselves lucky that no one’s been watching these hearings to begin with.
This hearing was pure desperation. It was a failing pointless attempt at trying to move the needle on something that, if House Republicans were being clear headed, they’d have figured out by now that they’re never going to move the needle on. But we’re now days, maybe hours, away from Donald Trump being criminally indicted for January 6th. We don’t know who else will get indicted alongside him, or after him. We don’t know if any House Republicans will end up indicted. But some of them are certainly going to have trouble sleeping these next several days, that’s for certain.
So it’s not coincidence that House Republicans just put on their biggest, most insane, most tantrum-driven public hearing to date. They know what’s coming next. They know Donald Trump is about to be criminally indicted for January 6th. They’re wondering what the odds are that they’ll end up indicted for their own actions in relation to that day. And they’re acting out like scared children, lashing out idiotically in all directions, making an even bigger mess for themselves.
It’s important to emphasize that not everyone who played a villainous role on January 6th is going to get criminally indicted. No jury would ever convict any member of Congress simply for pumping their fist or giving a speech. If anyone in Congress ends up indicted for January 6th, it’ll have to be due to text messages they might have sent to the attackers, or fraudulent fundraising related to phony election claims, or things along those lines – things that a jury would actually convict on.
But as of now a bunch of House Republicans have really got to be sweating it out. It’s not just that Donald Trump’s January 6th indictment could be a precursor to them eventually getting indicted as well. It’s that the text of the Trump indictment could reveal which of them are on track to be indicted. No wonder these loons are going for broke by holding completely insane public hearings. They’re in an absolute panic right now.
