Flying out of the gates
One of the most anticipated days of the 2024 campaign cycle hit us on Tuesday when Vice President Harris announced her running mate off of what was a rather impressive short list of political talent. Plenty of donors signed up ahead of the running mate announcement and the Harris-Walz campaign raised $20 million within a few hours. It’s almost like old news now – another day with big fundraising numbers for Kamala Harris’ campaign, each one a more historically massive amount than the last. How popular is her running mate?
He’s got ringing endorsements from just about everyone – from AOC to Joe Manchin, who all released favorable statements about him – a sincere, no-nonsense Midwestern dad who’s also a veteran, former teacher and coach – and even a real hunter, unlike the Republicans that like to cosplay as one. There’s even a Republican rep that wrote an oped for Fox News talking about what a great veep Tim Walz will make – hardly a surprise, as the rep from a rural district of Minnesota got a whole lot done as governor, from a free school lunch program to overseeing one of the largest substantial tax cuts in history for the middle class.
Tim Walz’s record speaks for how much you can get done as a pragmatic politician, with successful coalition building between the left and moderate wings of your party – and this is why we need to send him to Washington alongside Kamala Harris to be our next president and vice president.
