Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida’s Republican Senator Rick Scott were pretty much the only two Republicans in the nation who significantly outperformed their poll numbers in the 2018 blue wave election, casting doubt about how they even got elected. They both happen to be close pals with Donald Trump, which tells you a lot.

Right about now, however, Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott are probably wishing they weren’t in charge of Florida. As the state faces a deadly pandemic and crushing economic collapse, it’s exposing just how bad of shape Florida is in. DeSantis has been Governor for two years, and before that, Scott was Governor for eight years. Now the corrupt damage they’ve done is being laid at their feet.

When Rick Scott wasn’t busy stealing pension money from teachers and police officers, he rigged the system so struggling Floridians couldn’t qualify for Florida’s social safety net programs. This allowed him to seize even more of the state’s money for his own corrupt purposes – and it allowed him to brag about how he’d done such a great job with the Florida economy, few people needed economic assistance. In his brief tenure, DeSantis has proven to be just as corrupt as Scott, hoping no one in Florida would notice.

But these things always get exposed when push comes to shove – and now Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott are laying the groundwork to try to blame each other for it. The DeSantis camp is already leaking to Politico about how it’s all Scott’s fault. Keep in mind that Scott and DeSantis are two close Trump allies who, up to now, have been closely aligned with each other. Hopefully they’ll destroy each other. They must both resign immediately, before the mess in Florida gets any more deadly.
