The floodgates of backlash against Donald Trump have been kicked fully wide open

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House Director of Communications for only 11 days and then remained a loyal Trump defender for quite some time, recently turned in his MAGA hat. “I’m a loyal Republican, and I’ve tried to be loyal to [Trump], but let’s face it. I mean, he’s gone off the rails, and so we just have to call it for what it is,” Scaramucci explained to John Berman on CNN’s “New Day” last Monday when announcing he no longer supported Trump’s reelection campaign. Scaramucci also suggested that other supposed Trump loyalists may soon follow his lead and warn Americans about how unqualified and deranged Trump is.

Scaramucci revealed “a truly staggering” reaction to his decision to denounce Trump, including an “overwhelming flood of texts, phone conversations and support last night from people that are actually inside the White House, up on Capitol Hill, former elected officials, current people in positions of power, current elected officials.” He then suggested that these people can have a profound effect if they “break through as a group.”

The next day, Scaramucci told CNN’s Don Lemon that after he had appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360,” three different former Trump Cabinet officials called him to offer their support. He told Lemon that based on all his discussions, it is clear Trump is “so nervous and neurotic. He also knows the dam’s going to break with all these other people announcing how nuts he is. So, that’s going to happen soon.”

This morning, Scaramucci returned to CNN’s “New Day,” and Alisyn Camerota pressed him for details on his plan. Scaramucci refused to give names but revealed that he’s in the process of “putting together a team of people that feel the exact same way as I do.” He emphasized that while it is very tough for some people to come forward, the process has to get started. “I’ve got to get some of these former Cabinet officials in unity to speak up about it. They know it’s a crisis.”

Scaramucci predicted that his efforts will lead to a “trove” of people coming forward in mid to late fall, and that he is also writing “a very detailed” account of his “odyssey” from being a loyal Trump supporter to where he is today. “I love my country, and it’s country over party,” Scaramucci explained. As he corrals people to speak out against Trump, his advice is to be a patriot, not a partisan. “Tell the truth to the American people and you’ll feel relieved, and your family members that are telling you to tell the truth will feel relieved.” If Scaramucci succeeds in prying open the floodgates to allow the truth to pour in, we may all soon be relieved. Stay tuned.
