Fill in the blank…

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

At a time where not one but two definitive international crises are dominating the news headlines (when there’s some even more violent armed conflicts at front and center throughout the world), the big issue Republicans are after isn’t anything to do with inflation, as much as they scream that phrase, or trying to make life more affordable for everyday Americans (something they’ve never even presented concrete examples of), their major issue is to impeach President Biden because of reasons that they haven’t really specified just yet.

To be clear, they actually do have a reason: Because it’s what the defacto leader of their party wants (at least who they believe it is in the eyes of Republican voters.) The problem is that there’s not really anything substantial that they can use to sway voters in the middle. At least when President Clinton was impeached, the GOP was able to make it about a sex scandal (and even then, they fared poorly with the average voter.)

Now, we have James Comer making a fool of himself on TV whenever he tries to make heads or tails of what they’re having this inquiry over, and it’s not just House Democrats calling them out, with a roundup of Senate Republicans (at least five of them) basically admitting that this is all sort of a…witch hunt. They’re trying to hide behind the word inquiry, and in doing so, they’re basically doing the work for us. Even though Republicans voted on inquiry in the House, their counterparts in the Senate are afraid of their own shadows, and we have the potential to make this an unwinnable issue for them – one that they can’t be for or against without losing significant support either way.
