Donald Trump finally figures out – too late – that Rudy Giuliani has screwed him over
We may never learn for certain why Rudy Giuliani did it. Was he purposely trying to hurry up and take Donald Trump down before the Trump-Russia investigation could circle back to his own role? Was he so hungry for the cameras that he didn’t care how much damage he did? Has Rudy gone so senile that he honestly forgot how the law works? Whatever the reason, Giuliani has screwed Trump royally – and now Trump has finally figured it out, but it’s too late.
Last night we learned that, five days after Rudy Giuliani went on the air with Donald Trump’s favorite Fox News host and began admitting to Trump’s various crimes, Trump is just now figuring out that Rudy is bad for business. Trump says he’s upset that the Stormy Daniels scandal is now more front-and-center than ever. Trump says he’s preparing to fire him. Fat lot of good it’ll do at this point.
Trump has so many scandals, it’s entirely possible that if he can get his own team to stop talking about the Stormy Daniels scandal, the media might spend a bit less time covering it, and a bit more time covering his other scandals instead. But Rudy’s confessions aren’t going away. The things he’s admitted to over the past week are evidence admissible in court. And there’s no “I fired my idiot attorney so strike everything he ever said about me” clause anywhere under the law.
In other words, as per usual, Donald Trump is the last to figure out what we all pretty much knew the minute he hired Rudy Giuliani, and knew for certain the minute Giuliani began speaking. Rudy told Trump that he had an unspecified magic plan for making all of Trump’s criminal scandals disappear within a week or two, and Trump actually bought into it. It’s a reminder that Trump is a gullible idiot, and he’s far too slow to admit to himself that he was wrong.
