Donald Trump’s FEMA Director under investigation in corruption scandal – but something doesn’t add up
Even as Hurricane Florence prepares to make landfall on the east coast of the United States with potentially devastating results, the attention being paid to the storm has brought a number of Donald Trump administration scandals to the forefront. For instance this week we learned that Trump took money away from FEMA and the Coast Guard to fund his immigrant child concentration camps. Now it turns out Trump’s FEMA Director is every bit as personally corrupt as any other Trump appointee.
FEMA Director Brock Long is being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General for having used government vehicles during his commutes, according to a new Politico report. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is reportedly the one who’s cracking down on him, which stands out as suspicious, considering that she’s consistently proven herself to be a corrupt liar. It raises questions about what’s really going on here.
There is no reason to expect that someone as criminally corrupt as Nielsen, who has told lie after lie after lie in support of Trump’s child concentration camps, would care about whether an underling like Brock Long was misusing government vehicles for his commute. For that matter, half of Trump’s cabinet has been caught up in travel scandals and expenditure scandals, and on one inside the Trump administration has cared. Yet now that the inept Trump regime is about to botch its response to Hurricane Florence, and a scapegoat may be needed, suddenly the upper reaches of the regime are letting it be publicly known that Long is under investigation for corruption.
So what’s really going on here? We’ll find out eventually. But it sure feels like games are being played here, at a time when FEMA and DHS are supposed to be focused on providing the best hurricane response possible. Maybe Brock Long is every bit as corrupt as DHS is claiming – or maybe he’s being targeted to take the fall here.
