FBI Director Christopher Wray sticks it to Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Because he’s about to lose so badly, Donald Trump is more desperate than ever to push the notion that there’s some kind of massive mail-in vote conspiracy against him. The thing is, Trump would have to get a majority of the country to believe this nonsense, and no one outside his too-small base seems to be falling for it.

That’s why Trump has to find a way to get the serious and respected people in the government to repeat his lie about mail-in voting, before he runs out of time. So it’s a big deal that generally respected FBI Director Christopher Wray just said this in an open hearing: “We have not seen, historically, any kind of coordinated national voter fraud effort in a major election, whether it is by mail or otherwise.”

It’s not as if Trump’s “I only lost big because of mail-in voter fraud” argument was going to get him anywhere to begin with. But with the head of the FBI firmly and publicly sticking it to Trump by confirming that there is no mail-in fraud, it makes things even more difficult for Trump.

To give you an idea of how ugly this is for Donald Trump, some right wing propaganda sites are now frantically calling for Wray to be fired. Of course Trump could theoretically do that. But if Trump thought he had the muscle to pull off firing Wray, he’d have done it awhile ago. The reality is that none of this is going the way Trump wants it to.
