Earlier today Judge McAfee ruled that Fulton County DA Fani Willis was not disqualified from the Donald Trump criminal case (as Palmer Report pointed out all along, there was never really any chance he’d disqualify her). McAfee did say that Willis and her boyfriend couldn’t both be on the prosecuting team together, and gave her a choice of either recusing herself or removing him.

Fani Willis is now wasting no time, as she just had her boyfriend announce that he’s removing himself from the Trump case. This was an easy and obvious decision, and Willis is making it clear that she’s moving forward full steam ahead.

Today’s ruling is still being spun as “win” for Trump by the doomsday pundits, as they claim that he succeeded in delaying the trial. But that didn’t really happen. When judges set timeframes for trials, they build in enough time for all the pretrial motions to come and go without necessarily delaying the trial start date.

So now we simply wait for Judge McAfee to confirm the start date for Donald Trump’s Fulton County criminal trial. Fani Willis, for her part, just made clear that she’s fully ready for it.
