Judge McAfee ruled today that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis can remain on the Donald Trump criminal case. She just can’t have the guy she’s dating also working on the case. Okay fine, so be it. This is a huge win for Willis and for justice. It’s a huge loss for Trump and his co-defendants, because this was really the last hope they were hanging their hats on.

Now we go to trial. Will it happen before the election? Yes, likely. Will Trump be convicted and sentenced to prison? Certainly. And all those Republicans outside Trump’s base who said they won’t vote for him if he’s a convicted felon by election day? Bring them on.

Of course yesterday we found out that Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial is indeed going to start well before the election April in fact. And even Trump’s classified documents trial got a boost yesterday, when Judge Cannon of all people shot down Trump’s last ditch motion to dismiss the case.

The point is that we’re winning, and Trump is losing. Fani Willis was never going to be removed from the case by the judge. Just like Fani Willis was never going to be removed from office by the Georgia legislature. Yet the media and the doomsday pundits sure had a lot of you convinced that these unrealistic things were probably or definitely going to happen.

Even now that Fani Willis has won, I see large chunks of the media trying to spin it as a loss, so they can continue with the ratings-friendly “Trump is getting away with it all” narrative. They’re still trying to bait you into giving up on any sense of wanting to win, or any sense of being an activist. They’re hoping you’ll devolve into a broken blob who stares at the screen all day in the hope of getting to feel fear, outrage, panic, defeatism, or whatever negative emotion they can get you addicted to.

ENOUGH. Fani Willis has won. Donald Trump is going on criminal trial. Politics is war, so there are always going to be wins and losses. But let’s accept the fact that we’re winning more battles than we’re losing, and that it means we’re winning the war. Instead of acting like a hapless spectator, turn off cable news and start fighting like you want to win. Do some phone banking. Sign up to volunteer with your local chapter of the Biden 2024 campaign. Adopt a Democratic candidate in a competitive House race. Enough with the doomsday hysteria. Instead, let’s try deciding that we want to win.
