Donald Trump’s Family Feud goes to Hell
Donald Trump has long insisted on having his own family run his various criminal enterprises, from the Trump Foundation to his presidential campaign to his illegitimate White House. That’s presented three problems for him. The first is that he treats his family like crap, even while relying on them to do his bidding. The second is that his family members tend to be bumblers. The third is that crime families always end up turning on each other and getting torn apart, which brings us to today.
Donald Trump Jr conspired with the Russians to try to illegally obtain dirt on Hillary Clinton during the election, meaning he’s going to prison. Donald Trump signed off on that meeting in advance, but he’s still pretending he didn’t. He doesn’t want to go to prison, so he’s now admitting that his son is a criminal, in the hope of protecting himself. It won’t work – and it’s going to tear the whole Trump family apart in the mean time.
Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was also in that meeting. Will he throw Kushner under the bus next? Will Kushner cut a plea deal against Trump? What will Ivanka Trump do then? She has her own money laundering woes back in New York, which the Trump-Russia probe will examine as well. Then there’s Eric Trump, who may be the only one of Donald Trump’s adult kids who manages to avoid prison – that is, if the charity scam doesn’t take him down. Who will he side with? The Trump family fortune will probably end up lost to asset forfeitures anyway, so it’s not as if the family fortune will simply slide to him.
So even if Donald Trump Jr ends up being too much of a gullible idiot to fight back against his father’s attempt at scapegoating, the rest of the Trump family could well turn on Trump in response. After all, Melania Trump made a point of publicly siding with LeBron James over Donald Trump this week, so it’s not as if there’s any real loyalty here one way or the other. Now we’re about to see just how ugly Trump Family Feud can get, and how badly they harm each other in the process.
