Donald Trump is falling apart at the seams

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Dexamethasone, an immune system calming steroid, Remdesivir, a drug that simulates viral building blocks and thereby thwarts a virus’s ability to replicate itself, and monoclonal antibody therapy, created by the company Regeneron, which mimics our own immune system responses, have all been used recently on Donald Trump.

The result, so conventional wisdom goes, is that Trump has become an unhinged, ranting and raving lunatic as a result, spouting bizarre conspiracy theories, saying and tweeting irresponsible things and generally behaving like a lunatic. I’m sorry, but am I missing something? How is this different? Sounds like Trump as usual to me.

Whatever the case, Trump performed true to form in a bizarre recent interview with Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo. Throughout Trump sounded exactly the way he always sounds under normal circumstances, that is, completely idiotic, irresponsible, thoughtless and stupid.

Trump doesn’t need any new drugs to be these things and, ordinarily, no one would notice if he weren’t being given these draconian therapies for Covid-19. Remember, this is a guy who’s subsisted on snorting adderall and a polypharmaceutical cocktail of drugs for at least 20 years, and a junk food diet for the last fifty. His behavior has always been bizarre.

The takeaway is, of course, that Trump is not going to debate Joe Biden. “No, I’m not going to waste my time on a virtual debate,” Trump said by phone to Bartiromo, “that’s not what debating is all about. You sit behind a computer and do a debate — that’s ridiculous. And then they cut you off whenever they want.”

Herein lies the crux of the problem, of course. Trump knows that in a virtual debate his ability to bully, intimidate and interrupt is vastly diminished. Of course, a virtual debate is, like Trump’s testing positive for coronavirus, also a tacit admission of the failure of his administration to contain the pandemic. There’s always that. But by making the debate virtual Trump is robbed of the only tactic he has, cheating through intimidation.

What Trump really wants to do is give a rally. Seriously. “First of all I think I’m better to a point where I’d love to do a rally tonight. I wanted to do one last night” Trump blurted to Bartiromo. “But I think I’m better to a point that I feel better than I did 20 years ago. I feel perfect.”

Then Trump said this: “I’m back because I’m a perfect physical specimen and I’m extremely young.” Yes, this morbidly obese, wheezing, out of shape, decrepit 74 year old man actually said this. But then he always says things like that, and he never needed coronavirus therapy to speak that way.

Whether or not there will be a second presidential debate is probably moot at this point. Trump has all but lost his chance for a second term. He has presided over the most disastrous, most corrupt administration in the history of the United States, one so bad it’s not altogether clear if America will ever recover to the point it enjoyed before Trump screwed everything up and set Americans against each other. But we must never give up. We must never stop trying. And we absolutely must vote Trump and his pirate ship administration right down the toilet in November.

There are a million reasons why Donald Trump is unfit to be president of the United States, this has been another one. And, as ever, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, comrades and friends, stay safe.
