Everything hits the fan
Just how poorly have the past ten hours gone for Donald Trump? Along the way he’s seen an ally testify against him, he’s seen a cabinet member resign with the likely intention of testifying against him, he’s lost his primary narrative when it comes to his impeachment defense, and he may now have to find a new Acting White House Chief of Staff to replace his Acting White House Chief of Staff. Also, his personal lawyer may have kept a log book of all the crimes involved.
Where do we even start here? Donald Trump’s ally Gordon Sondland spent ten hours testifying behind closed doors to the House impeachment inquiry today, and if his full testimony was in line with his published opening statement, then it’ll mean Sondland has thrown Trump under the bus in an attempt at saving himself. Rick Perry, whose fate is now married to that of Sondland, decided to go ahead and resign before Sondland’s testimony was even complete, if that tells you anything.
Mick Mulvaney tried to fix everything by doing the dumbest thing possible, and now that it predictably hasn’t worked, Donald Trump is throwing Mulvaney under the bus. We’re left to wonder if Mulvaney will even still be employed by morning, and if he is ousted, whether he’ll try to save himself by selling Trump out.
But really, Donald Trump doesn’t need idiots like Perry and Mulvaney to screw things up for him, when he’s got his former legal adviser going on television and revealing that Trump’s current legal adviser has apparently kept a log book of all the crimes that have been committed. We all knew Rudy Giuliani would be Trump’s downfall; we just didn’t know Rudy could read and write.
