Everything hits the fan

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Palmer Report recently wrote about the deepening schism between Republicans and Rudy G(aga)-Man Giuliani. Yet questions remain, such as who is funding the latest Giuliani trip. Further, it appears that “President Donald J. Trump the Impeached” did not get the memo from his party about such distancing. In a case of bravado or stupidity, Trump continues to keep abreast of what Giuliani is doing over in Ukraine.

Trump today announced to the press pool: “[Rudy Giuliani]’s going to make a report, I think to the attorney general and to Congress. He says he has a lot of good information. I have not spoken to him about that information yet. He has not told me what he found, but I think he wants to go before Congress (inaudible) and also to the attorney general and the Department of Justice. I hear he has found plenty.”

As a reminder, the guys that Giuliani has been seen with are believed to be Russian intelligence. And who benefits from this recasting of blame for what has occurred and trying to blame Ukraine and cast it as the bad actor in everything? Trump (or so he thinks), and the person pulling Trump’ strings, Vladimir Putin.

Speaking of Putin, he is becoming more popular among Republicans since 2014. According to a Huffington Post article, his net favorability rating “climbed an astonishing 56 percentage points” from 2014 to 2016. Tucker Carlson recently discussed on Fox News how much he loves Putin, and in another astounding report, the military has concerns about the growing number of military personnel who sympathize with Russia and the growing percentage that considers Russia an ally.

Most of us are old enough to remember when the Republican Party was singing a different tune and Russia was not our friend, and Putin was not the GOP puppet master. Next week, we will have to deal with more nonsense about Ukraine and Giuliani, who should be arrested soon.
