Everyone piles on after Marco Rubio steps in it
When Aphrodite rose from the sea,whispery-voiced and radiant in a flurry of white foam, the Goddess of Love was born. Those are days long behind us, yet the myth lives on. Love is something I wish this country could see more of. It exists. No doubt about that. But this country has also seen the rise of hate, fake news, and wickedness. We’ve looked evil in the eye many a time.
And for members of the Republican party, they have been happy to throw aside the values of burning and eternal love that sparked this country’s majesty and made us the wonderful and free country that we are today. Marco Rubio is one such person.
Rubio is one of the Senators up for reelection this year. And we must beat him. Val Demings is in it to win it, and if she does indeed win it, Florida will have a little more love in its life.
Now let’s talk about Rubio in earnest. He is currently under fire for the using ‘anti-Semitic trope.’ Per Daily Mail, Rubio sent out a tweet that appeared to be no more than a racist dog whistle: “The upscale liberals who control the media and Democratic party believe Jan 6th was another Pearl Harbor or 9/11.”
Upscale liberals? The blow-back was swift. Many, including this writer, saw this tweet by Rubio as a thinly veiled reference to the Jewish community. Many people felt the same, including rep. Adam Kinzinger who tweeted this: “Marco, what happened to you, man?”
What “happened” with “little” Marco is he’s frantic. Demings is narrowing the gap, and there is a strong possibility Marco won’t have a job come election time.
The Jewish faith is under attack. We all witnessed what happened in Texas this weekend. Rubio’s tweet was sent before this event occurred, but it is far from the first time something like this happened in the Jewish community.
As I write this, the blow-back is still going on to an extent. The mainstream media, in my opinion, has not given enough coverage to this story, but on social media, people are livid as well they should be.
We need more love in this country. We need hope and a future we can rely on and be proud of. Having Marco Rubio as part of the Senate does not help us achieve this goal. Let’s get out the vote for Val Demings and make her the next Senator of Florida.
