Everyone piles on after Donald Trump’s insane remark about “housewives”
Donald Trump can’t win reelection without suburban women voters. That’s a problem for him, because the recent protests in places like Portland have been led in part by suburban women and suburban moms. Now Trump is trying to ingratiate himself with these voters by scaring them into believing that Joe Biden will destroy their way of life.
Unfortunately for Trump, he’s not very good at this. In a sign of just how out of touch he is, Trump tweeted this: “The Suburban Housewives of America must read this article. Biden will destroy your neighborhood and your American Dream. I will preserve it, and make it even better!”
Forget the part where he’s lying about Joe Biden. The real story here is that Trump thinks suburban women are all “housewives.” Did it never occur to him that plenty of suburban women and suburban moms have day jobs? Of course not, because he’s that inherently sexist, and that out of touch.
The blowback was so swift and fierce, the word “housewives” quickly began trending atop Twitter. Donald Trump really doesn’t get it. In an attempt at appealing to suburban women voters, he just offended them. Is Trump trying to end up getting 0% of the women’s vote?
