Dear Palmer Report readers,
We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.
In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Donald Trump’s press conference today was a reminder of why he stopped holding press conferences to begin with. The entire thing was shaky from start to finish. But when Chinese-American CBS News reporter Weijia Jiang asked Trump a question about testing numbers, he insisted that she “go ask China.” When another reporter tried to jump in to defend her, Trump angrily stormed out.
Suffice it to say that Trump’s racist meltdown didn’t go over particularly well. CNN’s Brian Stelter said this of his competitor: “Viewers are lucky to have Weijia on the White House beat.”
Congressman Ted Lieu tweeted this: “Dear Donald Trump: Asian Americans are Americans. Some of us served on active duty in the U.S. military. Some are on the frontlines fighting this pandemic as paramedics and health care workers. Some are reporters like Weijia. Stop dividing our nation.”
Others also heaped praise on CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins, who appeared to be jumping in to follow up on Trump’s response to Weijia’s question when Trump cut her off, and to PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor, who waved off her own opportunity to ask a question by directing Trump back to Collins, prompting Trump to storm off.
