Even the Wall Street Journal says it’s over for Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On Saturday, the Senate voted 57-43 to convict Donald J. Trump of impeachment, the most bipartisan vote for presidential conviction in our nation’s history. On Monday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for a 9/11-like commission to investigate what happened on January 6. We will learn much from the commission, and even Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called out Trump for causing the insurrection.

Even the conservative Wall Street Journal is making it clear Trump is over, the editorial board writing on Monday: “Mr. Trump may run again, but he won’t win another national election. The country is moving past the Trump Presidency, and the GOP will remain in the wilderness until it does too.”

The board continued: “He may go on a revenge campaign tour, or run as a third-party candidate, but all he will accomplish is to divide the center-right and elect Democrats. The GOP’s defeats in the two Jan. 5 Georgia Senate races proved that.”

As reported by Palmer Report, the shine of Trump appears to be dulling. The problem for the GOP is as the Wall Street Journal identified- it cannot and will not disavow Trump, afraid of what the base will do if they abandon Trump. It is good for the country so long as they remain committed to not offending the emperor with no clothes on in 2022 or 2024.
