Enough of this crap

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Yesterday House Democrats once again bailed out hapless House Republicans by providing the votes to keep the government running for another couple months. It was predictable, given that the Republicans never have had enough votes to support a shutdown. But it’s also tiring. At this point House Democrats are running the show from the minority, which shouldn’t even be possible, let alone necessary.

I’m the one who has said all along that there was never going to be a shutdown. But I’m as sick of this crap as anyone else. That’s why I’m begging all of you to get involved in the special election to replace George Santos in New York’s 3rd District. The election is less than four weeks away, and it looks like a close race. It could go either way.

Do we really want to have gone through all that hassle and trouble of getting rid of George Santos, just to see his seat revert back to the Republicans? More to the point, with the House Republican majority now slipping at least temporarily to just one or two seats, do we really want to blow this opportunity to flip a seat? Depending on what happens as 2024 goes on – particularly with Republicans now enraged at Speaker Mike Johnson for caving on the budget – this special election could determine who ends up with the majority before we even get to November.

So let’s go win this one. The good news is that because the special election is getting so little national media attention, it makes it easier for us to have an impact. If each of you reading this donates $5 right now to Democratic candidate Tom Suozzi, that’ll pay for a significant number of local TV ads and such. It’s how congressional races are won. Donate here.
