The end of Donald Trump
Michael Cohen didn’t finish Donald Trump off yesterday. Instead he shattered Trump’s life into a thousand little pieces, and he set every one of those pieces on fire. Trump thought he had a lot of criminal scandals when the day began? Now they’re multiplying like Gremlins. What’s more, investigators are seizing on every last flaming piece all at once.
For instance, we already know that Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg has been cooperating with federal prosecutors in exchange for immunity. But thanks to yesterday’s events, he’s about to be hauled in to testify publicly before Congress. This guy easily knows a hundred times more about Donald Trump’s decades of financial fraud than a relative peon like Michael Cohen knows. But that’s just the beginning.
If the SDNY didn’t already know that Donald Trump Jr signed a check to reimburse Cohen for committing crimes, it knows now. In terms of convicting Junior for felony fraud, this is a smoking gun. Cohen also managed to drag Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, two Trump criminal defense attorneys, and a number of other Trump underlings into the mix. We’ll see them all subpoenaed to testify, very soon.
Here’s the kicker though. At one point Michael Cohen referred to incriminating documents that are in the Trump Organization’s possession. House Democrats began asking precisely where to find those documents, and he obliged. You could almost envision committee chair Elijah Cummings writing out a subpoena in his head as the questioning went on. If the Trump Organization tries to defy the subpoena, we could actually be looking at the FBI raiding Trump Tower with a search and seizure warrant. If that sounds impossible, consider that many of us thought it was impossible when the FBI raided Cohen’s office last year.
The hits just keep coming. House Democrats, Robert Mueller, SDNY, and the Attorney General of New York are all poring back over Michael Cohen’s testimony as we speak, figuring out which of these new leads and threads they want to tackle first. Not only did Michael Cohen just shatter Donald Trump, he opened the door for everyone involved to grab ahold of every one of the resulting pieces. This is the end of Trump. Watch him be dismantled before our eyes. There’s no longer anything he can do to stop it.
