Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted that Elon Musk is the official head of the “DOGE” agency, a notion which is complicated by the fact that DOGE doesn’t appear to officially exist as an agency. Now that the Democrats have challenged the legitimacy of DOGE in court, things are taking a rather surreal turn.

The Trump White House just made a court filing insisting that Elon Musk is not the head of DOGE, and Musk instead merely an adviser to Trump. Bizarrely, the filing doesn’t state who is in charge of DOGE. It raises questions about what this “DOGE” agency even is, whether it officially exists, and who else besides Musk might be behind it.

It’s doubtful that this court filing will help the Trump regime’s legal position. If anything, it casts more doubt about whether Musk and DOGE have any legal standing to do the things they’ve been doing. The Trump regime just admitted that Musk isn’t even in charge of DOGE, while refusing to admit who is.
