Donald Trump had to scrape the bottom of the financial barrel in order to post bond in his $83.3 million E/ Jean Carroll verdict. All it does is temporarily shield Trump from having to pay Carroll while Trump appeals the verdict. But Trump seems to think that posting bond means he can now go back to attacking Carroll. That would be incorrect.

Over the weekend Trump used a speech to repeat his same old lies about E. Jean Carroll. It resulted in widespread calls for Carroll to take new legal action against Trump. Now Carroll, through her attorney, is hinting at a new civil action against Trump. So what would this look like?

Carroll could go back to the judge in the existing case and ask that the size of the verdict be revisited. Or Carroll could file a new civil case against Trump and put him on trial again. Either way, it’s pretty clear that Carroll is in a position to win. Trump keeps digging himself a deeper hole.
