Robert Mueller dunks Donald Trump right out of the gate

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump woke up today ranting and raving about Special Counsel Robert Mueller in all capital letters, which tells you how he was expecting Mueller’s testimony to go. Right out of the gate, House Democrats hit Mueller with some of the most important questions at hand, and sure enough, Mueller promptly dunked Trump.

This morning Donald Trump tweeted the familiar refrain that the Mueller report supposedly found “NO COLLUSION, NO OBSTRUCTION!” But when House Democrats asked Robert Mueller this morning whether his report fully exonerated Trump, Mueller simply said “no.” Then they asked Mueller if it’s his view that Trump can be criminally indicted for obstruction of justice once he’s no longer in office. Mueller’s answer: “yes.”

The Mueller hearing is something of a mess thus far overall. Robert Mueller has spent much of his time flipping through his own report in reference to questions from House Democrats. Meanwhile, House Republicans are spending most of their time running their mouths, in the hope of preventing Mueller from speaking. That said, 95% of what’s being said today doesn’t matter.

Most people are at work during the day and don’t watch televised congressional hearings live. Instead they end up judging things based on the three or four soundbites that make their way onto the nightly TV news and onto social media. If one of those soundbites ends up being Robert Mueller saying that Donald Trump can be criminally indicted for what’s in this report once he’s out of office, then it’s bad news for Trump.
