Dumber than a sack of bricks

Over the past few days Donald Trump has lost the few key external economic allies he had, as both Bill Ackman and Kevin O’Leary publicly called on Trump to end his tariff madness. Now things have gotten even uglier, if you can imagine that. Trump’s internal economic allies are now also feuding with each other, and it’s spilling over into very public view.
Elon Musk has consistently shown that he can’t get along with much of anyone. His original DOGE partner Vivek Ramaswamy quit on literally day one. Others have since quit as well. Musk has also gotten into such ugly feuds with Trump’s cabinet that they’re reportedly pressuring Trump to force Musk out. Then there’s Trump longtime adviser Peter Navarro, whose economic idiocy is equalled only by his loyalty to Trump (he once went to prison for him).
Musk and Navarro are both pieces of work, but given that Trump can’t find anyone more competent (or sane), he needs them. That’s a problem, because they’ve begun feuding with each other. Musk called Navarro “dumber than a sack of bricks” and a “moron.” Those are objectively true statements about Navarro, but Musk can’t go around attacking Trump’s other advisers like that without being a distraction.
Sure enough, the Musk-Navarro feud has become such a story that a reporter asked Trump’s White House Press Secretary about it yesterday. She didn’t have a satisfactory answer. Not that there is any satisfactory answer to that question, beyond “Trump is an idiot who hires idiots and then fails to show any leadership when they start feuding with each other.”
Remember, each time there’s scandal or controversy like this within Trump’s own regime, it makes it that much harder for Trump and his people to try to sell what they’re doing. Trump is so deep into dementia that he can’t even remember how to put a sentence together let alone carry out an exceedingly unpopular agenda, and now he has to deal with the distraction of his own people publicly eating each other alive on top of it.
