Drop out!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

“No public humiliation that great is worth the sacrifice.” These words came from Republican Governor of New Hampshire Chris Sununu, who urged, in an op-ed in the New York Times, that the non-Trump Republican Presidential candidates rethink their strategies — or risk utter and completer humiliation.

“If Mr. Trump is the Republican nominee for president in 2024, Republicans will lose up and down the ballot.” Thanks for the vote of confidence, Governor Sununu! Yes. of course, they will lose. But there is no way your words will break through to THIS group — no way at all.

The governor begged the candidates who stand no chance of winning to drop out of the race. That is not going to happen. It can’t happen because for THIS group of candidates they all seem to thrive on humiliation.

Sununu said that if these candidates are sticking around, hoping to be picked as VP or to be given a job in Trump’s cabinet, to rethink that strategy — because Trump can’t win and these candidates run the risk of complete embarrassment..

I agree with ALL the words in this Op-ed. . But then again, I’m not a Republican. As you have seen, a little thing like national humiliation hasn’t stopped Republicans before, and I doubt it will now.

That’s because the GOP is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If they were to turn on Trump now, of course, he’d be enraged, and some of the Maga base — maybe most of them — would stay home on election day, giving Democrats the House, the Senate and the Presidency.

But if they choose to stay and support him, they stand an excellent chance of losing anyway. What an insane situation the GOP has found themselves in. It truly is a paradox for Republicans — one that they created all by themselves.
