Dr. Oz and his Republican Senate campaign are in trouble already

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

For a party (or a cult) that claims to hate Hollywood, the insurrection party seems to love celebrity candidates. Assolini. Ronald Reagan. Arnold Schwarzenegger. And Dr. Oz.

Mr. Oz has thrown his hat in the clogged ring of GOP celebrities. Oz is his name. Quackery is his game. And the great state of Pennsylvania is his aim. He won’t win. Not if we have anything to say about it.

The good news is the not-so-good Oz is already well-known as a quack. His outlandish reputation proceeds him, and that reputation shows he a scarecrow, a tin man, and a cowardly lion — all wrapped in a bizarre bowl of grift.

The man has taken positions that are batshit by anybody’s standards. Yet, a little thing like that would not stop the GOP support. What MIGHT stop it is some of his previous statements and positions.

Consider this nugget. It is being reported that Oz has said in the past that Red flag laws should be enacted for gun owners by surveying their social media. Uh-oh. Faster than one could say, hypocrite, the MAGA trolls were — and are — on it. And hundreds of comments are floating about with such statements as this:

“Nope, Oz.”

And this: “He’s clearly a Democrat.”

And this: “We’re screwed.”

So as you can imagine and see in these comments, MAGA is not taking to his candidacy. Now with this guy, the bullshit runs deep, so perhaps he will be able to lie his way out of his previous positions. Anything is possible.

Yet, I do not see his candidacy as going anywhere. And we have to make sure it doesn’t. Bizarre as Oz might be, nothing surprises me in politics these days. It is possible, though unlikely, he could win. Not if we do the work to see he doesn’t.
