DOWN THE DRAIN
If someone is about to make a catastrophic mistake, it is only fair to warn them. And so we have. We’ve warned the Republican National Committee, time and again, as we’ve watched them turn into a wholly owned property of Donald John Trump, perhaps the ONLY property he won’t lose to pay off the judgment against him.
However, SOMEONE will lose — and “someone” is plural for many people. This is because, despite advice from virtually everyone, the RNC has crumbled, metaphorically speaking—they’ve crumbled like the rotting ruins of an old decrepit house—as the RNC has decided to pay some of Trump’s legal bills after all I’m shocked, I tell you!
From Mediaite: “The former president’s campaign, which is led by his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, struck an agreement with the RNC to direct donations to his campaign and his Save America political action committee, which has been paying Trump’s legal bills.”
The AP says that now that this agreement has been struck, it is “more likely that republican donors could see their money go to Trump’s lawyers.” Are you laughing as loudly as this writer right now? You know, of course, what this will mean for Republicans.
Less money for down ballot candidates. Less money for lots of things — including Trump’s campaign. More money to spend on lawyers — lots of lawyers. Whole swathes of lawyers. So, let’s review our current situation.
Trump is no longer doing debates, at least for now, possibly forever. The RNC has turned into a fundraising organization not for politics but for lawyers. Trump can’t string two sentences together. No, that’s not right. Trump can’t string ONE sentence together.
Oh, the joy of it all! Donors were already on the fence. Somehow, I doubt this will make it any better at all for them. So, unless all these GOP donors want to foot Donald Trump’s legal bill, perhaps they should think about not donating even a dollar.
