Down goes Peter Navarro
Longtime Donald Trump adviser Peter Navarro is going to prison. Soon. Navarro has been ordered to report to federal prison a week from tomorrow. It’s a reminder that for all the antics and shenanigans Trump and his people might try, they’re not “getting away” with anything.
Navarro had tried to argue that he should remain free while appealing his sentence, arguing that he would end up serving the entire sentence while appealing. But the judge in the case didn’t buy the argument. A different judge did buy that same argument from Steve Bannon, which is why Bannon isn’t (yet) locked up. But Bannon was only able to win such an argument because of the short nature of the four month sentence to begin with.
When Bannon is convicted on more serious crimes in New York later this year and given a lengthy prison sentence, there’s no chance he’ll be able to remain free while appealing. Nor will Donald Trump be able to remain free once he’s convicted on the serious charges he faces.
Peter Navarro is going to prison next week. Donald Trump and Steve Bannon will join him later. They’re all going down. They were never “getting away with it all.”
