Down goes Mark Meadows

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If you’re under criminal investigation for the same actions in multiple jurisdictions, you pretty much have to cooperate in all of them or none of them. But Mark Meadows apparently never got the memo, because he cooperated under immunity in the federal criminal probe into the 2020 election, while fighting against the Fulton County criminal probe into the 2020 election. That alone tells you how clueless and lost he is.

This led to Meadows getting criminally indicted in Fulton County. He then tried to get the Fulton County case moved to federal court, which had very little chance of working. Not only did he lose, he got caught committing perjury in the process. This led Fulton County DA Fani Willis to tell the media that she had no interest in giving him a cooperation deal.

So when Meadows then filed an appeal of the decision not to move his case to federal court, he really had everything riding on it, because he’d already burned all his other bridges. The problem for Meadows is that it had no chance of working, and sure enough, he just lost that appeal.

Meadows can still try to file an appeal with the Supreme Court, but we all know this isn’t going anywhere. Meadows is simply hosed. He’s going to stand criminal trial in Fulton County. He’ll be convicted and sent to prison. And there’s no magic pardon coming.

It’s important to understand that Meadows’ legal antics aren’t “delay tactics,” given that they never had any chance of delaying anything. His trial will still start on time.

Delay tactics would be one thing. What Meadows has been doing is just stupidity. He made his bed when he decided to cooperate in the federal probe even while alienating prosecutors in the Georgia probe. Now he can’t cut a deal in Georgia. And the testimony he gave in the federal case can now be used against him in the Georgia trial, because he only had federal immunity. That’s right, he’s handled this so stupidly that the key witness against Mark Meadows may indeed be Mark Meadows. All he had left was this dead-end appeal, and now he’s even lost that. Meadows is simply hosed.
