Donald Trump just doubled down on his hydroxychloroquine mess in the dumbest way possible

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Why is Donald Trump now claiming that he’s been taking hydroxychloroquine, a drug that has no impact on coronavirus and kills a lot of people as a side effect? And is Trump even really taking it, or is he just lying as usual? Now Trump has doubled down on his mess, in a way that’s almost unbelievably dumb.

Various medical studies have shown that hydroxychloroquine doesn’t help people who have coronavirus, and instead the side effects can make things worse. Now that Trump has been asked about those studies today, he’s apparently decided that they’re all a conspiracy against him. No, really.

Trump announced to reporters today that there was only one “bad” study involving hydroxychloroquine (this is a lie), and that the study was rigged because it was a “Trump enemy statement.” So in Trump’s warped mind, medical researchers conducted a fraudulent medical study and murdered a bunch of people in the process, just to make him look bad. At this point Trump is nothing more than an increasingly addled tinfoil hat lunatic conspiracy theorist.
