Donald Trump’s virtual collapse

Donald Trump struggles to even so much as get through a rally speech, where he can say anything he wants and no one asks him any questions, without incoherently faltering. This presents a real problem when it comes to the interviews that Trump needs to do in order to continue masquerading as a supposed candidate for something.

Even in friendly interviews, where the host wants Trump to come off well, Trump wanders off topic in such senile fashion that the whole thing ends up being a debacle. Trump’s number one fan Sean Hannity had to tell him to “focus” during a recent sit down interview. And when Trump’s disgusting new ally Dr. Phil released an interview he’d conducted with Trump, the jump cuts made it clear that Dr. Phil’s people had to heavily edit Trump’s answers for coherence – often mid sentence. The editing was so jarring that the Biden campaign ended up mocking it.

In other words, Trump is now way too deep into dementia to be able to do sit-down interviews anymore, even with interviewers who are trying to make him look good. So what does this leave? Trump is now increasingly doing virtual interviews via tools like Zoom, which don’t put him on the screen, and therefore allow friendly interviewers to chop up Trump’s answers in more subtle fashion.

In other words, Donald Trump has now become the shut-in basement dweller that he spent the 2020 election accusing President Biden of being. Of course Biden was dutifully abiding by COVID precautions back then, whereas Trump is hiding in virtual land in 2024 because he’s too senile to function in the real world.
