Donald Trump’s SCOTUS chaos and bedlam

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Are people afraid of Donald Trump and his big mouth? Trump’s team submitted their briefing to the Supreme Court regarding the disqualification of Trump by the Colorado Supreme Court. Maine has a similar case but has deferred ruling until after the Supreme Court rules. Trump cannot sit back and let his lawyers work and wait for the ruling. Alternet reported that he has promised “chaos and bedlam” if the ruling does not go in his favor. Really, who wants this fool in the White House? He does absolutely nothing that can possibly enhance our lives as citizens of this country. All he does is threaten, demean, and insult people. He has no set plans-other than to make everyone’s lives miserable.

The Supreme Court is being charged with deciding whether the 14th amendment insurrection clause applies to Trump. His attorneys had the nerve to include in their brief that if SCOTUS rules against Trump “it could create unrest among the general population.” Please. Most will be happy if they rule against him. He does not belong in public office, period. Jessica Schneider, CNN correspondent, said: “This is very much fast-tracking a hugely consequential case.” It is consequential because many states are now trying to decide whether to exclude Trump from their ballots, and should SCOTUS deem Trump disqualified, they can take him off. Otherwise, he will appear on the ballot.

To make matters worse, 46 Republican Senators and 130 House Republicans have signed onto an Amicus brief. Their assertion is that only Congress can enforce the rule with legislation. The Senators and House members should be ashamed. Every one of them was there that day, and all of them ran and hid out of fear for their lives. Even Mitch McConnell signed the brief even though he condemned Trump on the Senate floor immediately after the insurrection. The worst part of their brief is that they seek to minimize Trump’s involvement in January 6. Were it not for Trump’s incendiary speech that day, those idiots would not have stormed the Capitol. In fact, he was the one who implored them to head to the Capitol. In their brief, Republicans claim that Trump “quickly asked for peace” and “encouraged disbandment” of the riot, Alternet reported. Several people have testified that Trump watched the riot unfold with glee. The only Republican senators who refused to sign the brief were Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski.

Republicans are notorious for lying to the people, but this lie takes the proverbial cake. None of them belong in public office. If they can’t or won’t support our democracy, they need to go. There are so many things we need to fix in our country. We need people in Congress who want to help us fix those things, not people who want to worship a false idol. 2024 is our opportunity to clean house. The people hold the power, and we need to use that power to get people who want to represent us in office rather than people who are in it for the money and power.
