Donald Trump’s resignation is the only card he has left to play

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It doesn’t get talked about nearly as often as it should, but the reality is that if Donald Trump doesn’t win in November, he’ll be on a surefire path to prison. If Joe Biden’s Attorney General is someone like Kamala Harris or Adam Schiff, you can get Trump will be hit with a comprehensive federal criminal case. And if the Feds don’t get to Trump first, New York State will.

This reality matters greatly, because Donald Trump is now in a position where if he didn’t have to stay in office to stay out of prison, he’d probably be seriously considering resigning. The stock market has plummeted by thirty percent in a month. There’s a pandemic going on, and Trump doesn’t know how to stop it. He’s been exposed to the virus himself, and he’s come across as physically ill in his latest TV appearances.

Even if Trump did get reelected in November – which seems more unlikely by the day – he’d be presiding over a second term of nothing but stress and failure. There’s no way this guy wants to remain on the job. Yet he can’t simply resign and walk away.

Here’s the thing though. Considering the crisis we’re facing, how many of you would be willing to give Donald Trump some kind of partial immunity from criminal charges, in exchange for his immediate resignation? You’d have to think about it, wouldn’t you. Trump’s ignorant refusal to get himself tested for the virus could mean he won’t last long enough to face criminal trial anyway. Right now Trump has got to be considering seeking some degree of immunity in exchange for resigning. He’s at the end of his rope, and it’s the only card he has left to play.
