Donald Trump’s Puerto Rico scandal just keeps getting uglier for him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

All day today, the question has been just how much more legs Donald Trump’s Puerto Rico “floating island of garbage” scandal would have. Is this a three day story, or is it going to make it all the way to election day? Suffice it to say that there have been plenty of signs today that this scandal is just getting started.

Today the Archbishop of Puerto Rico demanded that Donald Trump apologize. This is a big deal, given the high percentage of Puerto Ricans living in swing states who are Catholic.

The head of the Republican Party of Puerto Rico also demanded that Trump apologize, and threatened to revoke his endorsement of Trump. This is a big deal in the sense that as Trump fails to apologize, the back and forth could drag on for days.

We also saw multiple co-hosts of The View slamming Trump for the remark today, and urging Puerto Ricans and Latinos to vote against Trump. And we saw the Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers use his game press conference to condemn Trump. This is going way outside of politics.

If you’re looking for Trump to lose, what you want is for this scandal to grow more legs with each passing day so that it remains in the headlines heading into election day. If today is any indication, that’s precisely the trajectory we’re on.
