Donald Trump’s psychological collapse over on Truth Social is reaching whole new depths of apocalyptic
After Donald Trump launched Truth Social in early 2022, he spent a year trying to use the social network to convince the public that he was somehow a viable political candidate for a future election – but nobody cared. Everyone mostly just ignored him.
Now that Trump has been criminally indicted, and is in the process of being indicted in multiple additional jurisdictions, people are finally paying attention to his Truth Social posts – but only because he’s falling to pieces. His posts reveal him to be a criminal defendant who simply can’t take the heat. And since a majority of Americans want Trump to fall to pieces at this point, they’re interested in the show.
It’s worth keeping in mind that Truth Social and its parent company are reportedly under federal criminal investigation. That’s no surprise, given that everything Trump-related is under criminal investigation these days, and for good reason. It’s also notable that Trump’s own recent FEC filings list Truth Social as being worth only about 6% of what it had initially claimed it was going to end up being worth. So it’s yet another failed Trump business venture, and the only question is whether it’s a criminal one.
It’s also important to note that of all the various screen captures of “Donald Trump Truth Social” posts that are going viral on Twitter and Facebook these days, about 80% of them are fakes. Someone will create a fake post to be funny, and clearly label it as satire, but then someone else will share it without labeling it, and then it goes viral and people think it’s real. So it’s a good idea not to share this stuff unless you’re first willing to actually wade into the Truth Social cesspool and see whether Trump really did say it.
Then again, the fact that the parody versions of Trump’s Truth Social posts are so similar to Trump’s actual Truth Social posts is revealing in and of itself. Donald Trump is so far gone, he now comes off as a parody of himself. When he’s at a point where he’s referring to the prosecutors targeting him as “Warthog” and “Peekaboo,” he really has gone round the bend, hasn’t he?
If Trump is making these kinds of social media posts in an attempt at establishing a mental incompetence defense for trial, he’s going about it entirely wrong. That’s not this kind of defense even works. But if he’s trying to convince everyone that he’s feeling scared, frantic, and helpless about what’s happening to him, then he’s nailed that one.
