Donald Trump’s paranoid delusional “lethal force” meltdown reveals just how bad his dementia symptoms have become
More details were released today in Donald Trump’s classified documents criminal case, including the fact that the Feds continued to retrieve classified documents from Mar-a-Lago even after they carried out their initial search and seizure warrant. But Trump is instead hung up on one detail released from the search warrant, which – as usual – he’s completely misinterpreting in mentally incompetent fashion.
Trump is going berserk today about the Mar-a-Lago warrant having authorized the use of lethal force. This is, of course, a total misrepresentation of how warrants work. Any time law enforcement is entering a property with a warrant, they’re implicitly authorized to use lethal force if for instance someone inside the property starts shooting at them. But Trump has decided that this means the Biden administration – and indeed President Biden personally – were trying to kill him.
Let’s count the ways in which this is ludicrously off base. First of all, President Biden wasn’t even involved in the warrant process. Second, when the Feds went into Mar-a-Lago, they knew Trump wasn’t even in town at the time. We could go on and on. But the point is that no mentally competent person would ever conclude that this search and seizure warrant was somehow an attempt at killing Donald Trump.
This is the part where we’re all reminded that Donald Trump is not mentally competent. He’s repeatedly displayed paranoid delusional behavior, in escalating fashion of late. His failing mind, consistent with that of a patient with severe dementia, is putting together the pieces of information he’s receiving in the wrong way – and he’s coming to paranoid delusional conclusions.
Trump and his allies aren’t going to get anywhere by falsely claiming that the Biden administration tried to have him killed. The only people who are going to believe something that insane are the people within Trump’s core base who are already voting for him anyway. So they can push this insane nonsense all they want, and it won’t get Trump a single additional vote. But it is a strong indicator of just how bad Trump’s dementia symptoms are getting. Uncontrollable paranoid delusions are often a sign of the beginning of the end.
