Donald Trump’s new “presidential immunity” filing gives away how throughly he’s given up on life

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The filings and motions that Donald Trump has made thus far in his various criminal trials have not been aimed at winning, or even delaying anything. Instead these filings have been amateurish nonsense aimed at making Trump feel better about his collapsing life.

To that end, Trump has now made a filing in his Washington DC criminal trial, arguing that the whole thing should be thrown out due to “presidential immunity.” To be clear, this isn’t a real thing. Trump’s filing has zero chance of working, and the whole thing will delay his trial by zero days.

Not only will this filing not help Trump in any way, it also serves to underscore just how thoroughly he’s given up on life. Trump’s life is on the line, in terms of having to spend the rest of it rotting in a cell. Yet instead of focusing on any actual defenses that might have some remote chance of saving him, he’s focused solely on the kinds of gibberish filings that allow him to pretend he’s still powerful. Trump’s life is over – he’s given up on life entirely – and this is all about getting to relive his past glory in his head and nothing more.
