This Mehmet Oz debacle is a ticking timebomb for Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Mehmet Oz was a couple points ahead in the polls before Trump endorsed him, and he’s a couple points ahead now. If the polls prove correct, then Trump’s endorsement has had zero impact and is therefore a failure – even if Oz wins by the couple points he was going to win by anyway.

If Oz ends up winning by a significantly larger margin than the polls are showing, such as 12 points instead of the expected 2 points, one could argue that perhaps Trump’s endorsement boosted Oz in a way that the polls weren’t able to measure.

On the other side of that, if Oz goes on to lose, after having been ahead in the polls before Trump endorsed him, that would obviously be catastrophic for Trump.

But if Oz wins by two points, the mainstream media will falsely spin this as proof that Trump’s endorsements are still crucial, even though it’ll mean Trump’s endorsement caused zero additional people to vote for Oz. That’s absurd on its face, but these are the ratings-driven times we live in, and “Trump is still controlling everything in politics” is a particularly ratings friendly narrative, no matter how absurd.
