Donald Trump’s lawyer quits
Donald Trump’s attorneys tend to end up quitting, getting fired, getting scapegoated, getting indicted, testifying against him, or in some cases all of the above. Now it turns out Trump has blown through yet another attorney, and it could have big implications.
Even as Trump prepares to go on criminal trial in New York next week, he also has three criminal trials coming down the pike. One of them is his classified documents trial, which is notable because several of Trump’s own attorneys ended up being forced to testify against him to the grand jury in that case.
Now it turns out one of those attorneys, Evan Corcoran, has indeed quit. CNN says that he quit in “recent months,” which means this isn’t a new development, it’s merely something that’s newly becoming public. This stands out for a couple reasons.
First, Corcoran is going to end up having to testify against Trump again at his classified documents trial. So it’s notable that he’s parted ways with Trump well ahead of that testimony. Second, it seems like Corcoran himself is the media’s only possible source for this information about him having quit. This suggests that, as Trump prepares to go on criminal trial on Monday, Corcoran wants the public to know that he no longer represents Trump.
