Pensiveness is like a waterfall; when it flows into our psyches, we can’t turn away until we breathe it in and inhale its sweetness. It is good to be reflective, to question if all the choices one has made are good ones. Former Trump attorney Joe Tacopina has had a moment of pensiveness. That might be why he turned in his walking papers and quit representing Donald Trump. Tacopina told Al Sharpton that he had to follow “his compass.”

“My compass told me my time there was done.” It was a good decision, and Tacopina said it took work to arrive at it. He thought about it and mulled it over. He was reflective about it. Is there anything worse for a traitor than having one of their core attorneys quit on them? I think not.

But Tacopina has said something else, and everyone should listen closely, including his former client. Tacopina believes Trump could very well be convicted. This is big news. Of course, WE know Trump will be convicted. But his lawyer — or former lawyer — saying so — well — that is a big deal.

“I think they are not to be taken lightly,” Tacopina said. He was specifically referring to the two federal cases, which he deemed the most serious. He also spoke about Jack Smith.

“Jack Smith is a federal prosecutor who I knew from his days in Brooklyn. That’s a serious prosecutor. These are federal cases, and you have a jury.” Tacopina is an example of someone who quietly and thoughtfully made a decision. He got out. He got out while the getting out was good.

He wanted no more bites of the Trump poison, the Trump cyanide that rapidly infects everyone around it. So he reflected, and he jumped ship. As for Donald Trump? Trump never had a day, even an hour, of pensiveness.

Perhaps, if he had, he would not have done some of the things he did. But it’s like asking a fish to stop swimming. Trump does not have it in him for self-analysis, for pensiveness. You may as well ask for the impossible.
