Even the best attorneys wouldn’t be able to help Donald Trump much with his worsening legal troubles, both because the cases against him are so overwhelming, and because he’s an erratically stupid client. But Trump keeps hiring attorneys who are either comically inept or don’t last very long. Now he may have just lost another one.
Trump attorney John Lauro has just been informed by the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington DC that he’s not allowed to represent Trump in the January 6th criminal case. Why? Lauro isn’t a member of the DC bar. Why was he even trying to represent Trump in this case? Doesn’t matter, he just got busted for it.
To be clear, this isn’t some “delay tactic.” Something like this isn’t going to delay the start of Donald Trump’s criminal trial by a single day. It’s just stupidity. And now Trump may have to find another attorney to replace this attorney, who replaced the last attorney, who replaced… well, you know.
