Donald Trump’s la la land
Donald Trump spent his first day in court showing displeasure with his attorney and then dozing off, according to the reporters who were in the room. It was a feeble, toothless, and yet not at all surprising performance on the part of Trump who hasn’t had anything left in the tank for a long time.
But there’s apparently also an alternate universe in which a defiant and spirited Donald Trump stormed out of the courtroom. At least that’s what the Trump campaign wants us to believe happened. Just before the trial ended for the day, Trump’s campaign reportedly sent out a fundraising email which falsely claimed that Trump had indeed stormed out of court.
It’s enough to make you wonder what happened here. Was Trump supposed to storm out of the courtroom at the end of Monday’s proceedings, but he was too lethargic and drowsy to go though with it? Or are Trump’s handlers merely trying to create an alternate fictional universe for his remaining supporters?
In any case, this is all just getting bizarre. It’s even more odd when you consider that because this is a criminal trial, if Trump were to try to storm out while it was still going on, the judge would have him arrested. Trump’s babysitters are trying to portray him as being more defiant than ever, but in reality Trump is at his most powerless point to date.
