Donald Trump’s idiotic attack today on a Fulton County grand jury witness is actually great news for us

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis has spent the day putting her final supporting witnesses in front of the grand jury, and criminal indictments against Donald Trump and his co-conspirators will either come down this evening or sometime tomorrow. Trump spent the day publicly and explicitly trying to intimidate one of those witnesses. This has set off a whole new round of fretting, outrage, panic, and “oh no he’s getting away with it all” hysterics. But in reality we’re seeing the precise opposite happening.

Trump’s impact on the grand jury process will be zero. This witness had already decided to testify, and wasn’t going to change his mind and climb under a rock just because Trump posted one more mean tweet on his fake Twitter site. But Trump’s impact on himself will be rather substantial. However many felonies Fani Willis was planning to indict Trump for, she can now add on one more: witness tampering. And that’s a big deal. Witness tampering has a high conviction rate, and often results in pretrial restrictions.

There are plenty of things to rage or fret about in politics, but Donald Trump’s attack today on a grand jury witness isn’t one of them. It’s actually great news for us. Trump is helping to send himself to prison, and he’s helping to speed up the process. Yeah, we’d all rather he just shut up and let the legal system take its course. But let’s be clear that whenever he runs his mouth these days, he’s only helping the justice system to take him down more quickly.

This is not a time for fretting, raging, or panicking – unless you’re Donald Trump or one of his co-conspirators. We’ve all waited a long time for this day to come. We’ve demanded that Trump be indicted. Well, he’s being indicted. There’s no reason whatsoever why any of us should spend today focused on fretting or outrage. We’re getting what we wanted. We’re winning. Trump is having his life ripped to pieces. And he’s spitefully hastening his own downfall by running his mouth like an idiot. If Trump wants to help us take him down, we should be celebrating it.
