Donald Trump’s GOP Congressman pal Matt Gaetz sinks to a whole new low

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump-Russia treason getting closer to Donald Trump’s inner circle, the desperation of those most ardently supporting him has considerably increased. There is no group of individuals acting more unhinged lately than the House Freedom Caucus. This far-right group is led by Republican Representatives Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan, who are supporting Donald Trump more eagerly than ever, despite the increasing evidence against him.

One member of the House Freedom Caucus, Rep. Matt Gaetz, appears to be going out of his way to align himself with alt-right supporters. As Palmer Report has documented, Gaetz has chosen to associate with several individuals already caught up in Mueller’s investigation. Whether it was hanging out with Roger Stone or known Russian asset and U.S. Representative Dana Rohrabacher, Gaetz appears to relish his time with individuals close to the Kremlin.

When House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy was caught on a secret recording stating that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin has Trump and Rohrabacher on his payroll, it was largely ignored by the mainstream media after GOP leaders played it off as a joke. However, considering Rohrabacher’s history with Russia, there is good reason to suspect this may have been an accurate statement.

Last October, Rohrabacher received backlash following his invitation to a meeting with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. He brought alt-right “journalist” and Holocaust denier Charles C. Johnson to join him for the meeting. Despite Matt Gaetz knowing that Rohrabacher is considered a possible Russian asset, and that Johnson is a far-right anti-Semite, he chose to associate with both of them during a recent fundraiser. The lengths that House Republicans will go to raise money to improve their hopes of reelection is only increasing now that they see they can no longer rely on Trump to advance the GOP ticket in the midterm elections.
