Even though the media doesn’t seem to want to talk about it at all, Donald Trump’s dementia is still the biggest story in politics. It’s caused him to remain in hiding for most of the transition period. It’s contributed to the most laughably absurd cabinet picks of all time. And when Trump did finally appear for a TV interview in a desperate attempt at saving his failing transition period, his dementia reared its ugly head yet again.

When Trump appeared on Meet The Press, he announced unprompted that he’d never heard the word “groceries” until after the election. To the extent that the media is lightly criticizing Trump for this, they’re merely suggesting that it means he’s out of touch because he’s never had to buy his own groceries.

But come on. This is, obviously, something else entirely. There is no one who would ever go through adulthood, regardless of their station in life, who wouldn’t be familiar with the word “groceries.” In fact Trump himself used the word numerous times during the campaign while talking about inflation.

Trump’s sudden belief that he’s never heard the word “groceries” before is a clear, obvious sign that his dementia has reached a point where his memory of having heard and used basic words is vanishing. For that matter Trump is so deep into dementia that, upon realizing he doesn’t remember the word “groceries,” he’s blurting out that he doesn’t remember the word groceries instead of keeping it to himself.

The media doesn’t want to talk about it, but Trump is a cognitive goner. He can hide now, while it’s still the transition period and most people are focused on the holidays. But that’s not going to work once he takes office. The general public is going to start asking why they have a “President” who’s in hiding and says and does nothing and only occasionally surfaces to say senile things. Trump is a lame duck already.
