Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial just took an ugly turn involving Allen Weisselberg

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has already officially lost his New York civil fraud trial before it began. The only two questions being answered by the trial are 1) how gigantic the financial penalties are going to be, and 2) whether anyone on Trump’s side comes out of this facing additional criminal charges.

Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, who has already been to prison and back, may have just gotten caught up in the latter. Another Trump Organization official, Jeff McConney, testified today that his boss Weisselberg instructed him to commit tax fraud on behalf of the Trump Organization.

This is part of why Donald Trump and the Trump Organization lost this trial via summary judgment before it even began; the evidence submitted against them is just that overwhelming. But it also makes you wonder if Weisselberg (and for that matter Trump) might be looking at additional criminal charges in Alvin Bragg’s separate but related criminal probe.

Bragg continues to publicly state that his criminal case is “ongoing.” There have also been various media reports over the past several months that Bragg was privately threatening Weisselberg with new criminal charges in an attempt at getting him to flip on Trump. It’s possible Bragg has been waiting for Letitia James’ civil trial to reach its conclusion before trotting out additional criminal charges against the participants. Tick tock.
