Donald Trump’s cabinet nomination debacle gets even uglier for him as Trump’s base angrily turns against one of his picks
Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees aren’t just the most unqualified and unsuitable slate in history. They’re also politically dumb picks that are causing problems for Trump across the board. The Matt Gaetz pick didn’t even survive the week, and its failure was a bodyblow for Trump. The Tulsi Gabbard and Pete Hegseth picks are generating nonstop negative headlines. And now one of Trump’s other picks is causing a major problem – for his base.
As Trump’s dementia gets worse and his universe gets smaller, he appears to be zeroing in on the few people he can remember. Gaetz, Gabbard, and RFK Jr were around him right at the end of his campaign, so he remembered they exist, and insisted on picking them. He appears to have picked Hegseth because he saw him on Fox News. Likewise Trump has picked Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as his Surgeon General nominee, presumably due to her segments on Fox News. The trouble is, Nesheiwat doesn’t appear to be insane.
In fact Dr. Nesheiwat appears to have a respectable record of advocating for safe vaccines and such. And thats prompting a large chunk of Trump’s base to openly rebel against him, going so far as to viciously attack the pick.
Of course the kicker is that Trump is now proposing putting vaccine advocate Nesheiwat and anti-vaxxer lunatic RFK Jr in medical positions within the same cabinet, which makes zero sense. It underscores that Trump really is just picking the small handful of people he still remembers exist, or recognizes from TV. He’s that senile. And he’s already got pretty much everyone upset at him over his craptastic cabinet debacle.
